FAQ
  • Q - How much does it cost?

We desire to be as transparent as possible with our pricing. Our standard daily rate for our mulcher is $2,850. (In some situations conditions may dictate a higher or lower price.) That includes up to 8 hours of operation at your site and also includes travel time and mobilization for sites up to 45 minutes away from us. The harder question becomes, ‘How long will your job take?’ Because every site is different, that is harder to answer. The best place to start is speaking with you on the phone while viewing satellite images of your property on our computers. Often we can meet you at your site to be able to make the most accurate estimate. As a rough estimate fairly dense/heavy growth can be cleared at a rate of one-half acre per day and thinner growth can be cleared at a rate of one acre per day or better. For most jobs we can also provide a Lump Sum proposal.
  • Q - What is your normal service area?

Anywhere is El Paso County or any of the counties adjacent to El Paso County we would generally consider our home service area. Thinking about it from a slightly different angle we ordinarily work within up to one or two hours away from our shop. If you use Google Maps to estimate the travel time from your property to our zip code, 80925, you can determine how far we are from you. We are happy to consider traveling further especially for larger multi-day projects.
  • Q - What factors make the work go slower or faster?

-Density of the tress/brush and size of the trees/brush. If all the trunks/stumps are less than 2 ½ inches in diameter than our machine can plow through them almost at a ‘mowing grass’ pace. If trees are more than 5 or 6 inches in diameter then the pace is slower because each tree requires working in one spot to mulch that individual tree.

-Flat ground vs steep slopes. Obviously flat ground allows us to work faster and do more in a day. Heavily sloped ground presents a challenge and if the slope is steep enough mulching machinery may not be able to work effectively.

-Rocky terrain vs soil. If there are significant exposed rocks on the site, that will slow down our work pace because we have to be carful to avoid most rocks to minimize damage to the machinery. On the other hand, if most of the ground is soil or dirt then we can generally mulch all the trees right down to the ground without having to worry about hitting rocks.

  • Q - Will your equipment be able to access my site?

Our equipment is generally delivered on a trailer behind a large pickup truck. We will need a space to park and unload and enough room to turn the truck and trailer around. Our mulching equipment is about 7’ wide. A minimum 10’ wide path is ideal to be able to get our machine to the work location. Large rubber tracks let us move easily over most terrain.

  • Q - Will it damage my grass?

Large rubber tracks let us move easily over most terrain. However, if we need to turn or operate on delicate surfaces, like your lawn, the grass will tend to get torn up by our tracks and will need time to recover and regrow.

  • Q - What will things look like when you're done?

If we mulch up a bunch of trees the trees will be shredded into 'mulch.' We have some control over the size of the mulch. If we go slower and grind more things a second time we can leave smaller size mulch pieces. If we go faster to achieve higher production rates the pieces will be larger.

  • Q - I have some work and so does my neighbor?

We are completely open to splitting a day's work between you and a neighbor. Let us know if you are thinking about that and we are happy to discuss the details with you. If you have a small amount of mulching work that will not take a full workday to complete, it can be wise to find a neighbor who also has some work to split the cost with.

  • Q - What's the best insurance company for 'fire risk' homes?

I'm choosing not to put this answer on the website but if you give us a call I'd be happy to share the feedback I've gotten from other customers.

  • Q - Do you guys do other things besides forestry mulching?

We have extensive equipment and experience in all types of land management work. We operate out of our own mini-ranch or hobby ranch. In recent years we've done all sorts of things from pond excavation and maintenance to planting hundreds of trees to building drip irrigation systems to installing buried irrigation lines. We're happy to discuss your broader needs and see if we would be able to provide a good solution.
